Beho Beho is a high-end camp but done in a wonderfully understated way. The plaudits should actually be applied, in the main, to the very high standard of its guides who are among the best in the park. The service is excellent with nothing left to chance and the price tag reflects this. If your budget can stretch to it, include this camp in your tour if visiting Nyerere national park. The camp has lovely views overlooking a large section of the park as far as the eye can see with Sable Mountain as its nearest neighbour which is still a good hour’s drive away. The lodge consists of nine extremely comfortable stone cottages all with private plunge pool. There is also a private house named after the camp’s founder, the late Christopher Bailey. The camp was derelict for many years but then completely revamped by Christopher’s son Charlie in the mid nougties. The house has every comfort imaginable as well as private room service.
Like Sable, being located up in the Beho Beho hills allows for spectacular views from the camp into the park and beyond to the Ulluguru Mountains. The camp is lucky enough to have its own airstrip, which means a very short journey to camp for arriving guests.
Finally, there is a luxurious tree house where sleep outs are possible, fantastic for honeymooners or simply the romantic at heart.
After a safari, relax by the pool before dinner, which can be taken in a number of spots around the camp.
